UNSUNG HERO: Christine Davis

The Washington Tuskegee Alumni Club, Inc. proudly honors Christine Davis, Tuskegee University Class of 2008, Business Administration major, as an Unsung Hero whose leadership, vision, and determination restored one of our most cherished WTAC traditions.

WTAC has hosted our Annual Luther H. Foster Scholarship Breakfast since 1983, a celebration that has uplifted students and united alumni for generations. But after the pandemic, the tradition came to an abrupt halt. Our last Scholarship Breakfast was held in 2019, leaving a five-year gap that deeply impacted our momentum and our students.

Bringing this event back was not simply a matter of planning—it required courage, creativity, and unwavering commitment. And that is exactly what Christine brought to the table.

A Leader Who Reignited a Tradition

As Chair of the 2025 Scholarship Breakfast Committee, Christine Davis took on a monumental challenge: reviving an event that had been dormant for half a decade.

Her leadership was nothing short of transformative.

A Sold-Out Return. A Resounding Success.

Under Christine’s leadership, WTAC hosted a sold-out Scholarship Breakfast, marking an extraordinary return to one of our most beloved traditions. Alumni of all ages shared positive reviews about the atmosphere, the organization, the program, and the sense of pride that filled the room.

Christine didn’t simply revive an event. She restored a legacy. A tradition rooted in excellence, community, and unwavering support for our students.

Our Gratitude

We cannot thank Christine and her dedicated committee enough. Their collective efforts helped WTAC return to its long-standing tradition of uplifting students through scholarships and honoring the spirit of service that defines Tuskegee University.

Christine—your professionalism, your heart, and your ability to turn vision into reality have set a new standard for WTAC events.

We proudly salute you, Christine Davis — our “Scholarship Breakfast Revivalist!”

UNSUNG HERO: CHRISTOPHER UMEOZULU

The Washington Tuskegee Alumni Club, Inc. proudly honors Christopher Umeozulu, our Unsung Hero. Chris, our Student Scholarship Grand Ambassador, is a standout scholar, leader, and community-builder who continues to represent Tuskegee University with distinction. As he prepares to graduate in May, Chris is not only planning for his future — he is already investing in the future of the students who will follow him.

Chris was the sole student to participate in the WTAC Student Scholarship Ambassador Challenge, and he embraced that responsibility with determination, passion, and excellence. While many students chose not to participate, Chris stepped forward — choosing to lead, choosing to inspire, and choosing to make a difference.

Chris shared his story, rallied support, and put in the work to raise scholarship funds for future Tuskegee students. His commitment resulted in $1,386 raised from 23 donors, showcasing the power of storytelling and student-driven impact.

His dedication reflects the heart of WTAC’s mission: students supporting students, alumni supporting scholars, and the entire community elevating the next generation.

UNSUNG HERO: IRA TIGNER, JR.

Unsung Hero Story

The Washington Tuskegee Alumni Club, Inc. proudly recognizes Ira Tigner, Jr., Tuskegee University Class of 2012, Biology major, as an Unsung Hero and a true embodiment of service, leadership, and Tuskegee excellence.

Ira is not only committed—he is a proud and distinguished member of the Washington Tuskegee Alumni Club, Inc., consistently showing up for his alma mater and his community with purpose and pride.

WTAC maintains a community-impact partnership through an MOU with the DC HBCU Alumni Alliance (DCHBCUAA). As part of this agreement, each participating alumni organization must complete a minimum of 15 collective volunteer hours with Martha’s Table to remain eligible for the annual payout that supports club programs, scholarships, and student initiatives.

This year, WTAC faced a challenge: the deadline was approaching fast, and the club still needed hours. That’s when Ira stepped forward—not just to assist, but to carry the mission almost entirely on his own.

In an extraordinary display of dedication, Ira completed more than 18 volunteer hours by himself in an incredibly short period of time. His relentless commitment ensured that WTAC didn’t simply meet the requirement—we exceeded it and protected our eligibility for the important DCHBCUAA support.

Although WTAC also received volunteer help from Adrienne Cooper (Tuskegee University Class of 1997, Elementary Education major), it was Ira’s diligence, consistency, and determination that made the difference.

Ira didn’t volunteer for praise.
He didn’t step up for recognition.
He did it because he loves Tuskegee and believes in serving his community with heart and integrity.

For that, we proudly salute him.

Ira Tigner, Jr. — our Unsung Hero and our “Volunteer Titan.”
Your leadership, sacrifice, and service reflect the very best of WTAC and the Tuskegee legacy.

Thank you, Ira. WTAC stands stronger because of you.
